John Smith Cafe
1 John Street, Waterloo NSW 2017

Australia has a lot of cafes. Cafes that are chic, fancy, laid back, urban you name it. Having been here for a few years, I am ashamed to say that I have not visited tons of cafes that Sydney has to offer. The man and I travelled a little lately rather than heading to our usual hangouts and we found ourselves in John Smith Cafe.

Small but really cosy, John Smith Cafe was packed despite the wet weather. There were people waiting to get a table. And of course, we were one of them. Different from most cafes, John Smith has some asian flare on their menu. Well, I am talking about pulled pork. They do pulled pork on sandwiches, cronuts and even egg benedicts! It is the first I came across on egg benedicts and that was what I went for.  The dish was really good (poached eggs and hollandaise sauce) but sadly to say, the pulled pork was somewhat bland. Being asians, pork is like a daily ingredient in most of our lives and you cannot blame me for being picky about it. We also had the pulled pork sandwich which is of a decent size.

Hearty breakfast but I never stop. The cronut craze has been going on for a while now and again, I am ashamed to mention that it is my first time trying one. I believe this is not the best around but I was happy to have tried this little pastry. Definitely still on the lookout for more cronuts (do share with me if you know any!) and to be honest, I am tempted to deep fried one myself.

If you are looking for cafes to go to for breakfast, lunch or brunch, try John Smith out.
